Improving Student Activities and Learning Outcomes Using The Problem Solving Method in The Subject of Civics in Class VII Students of SMP Negeri 9 Kendari

Abstract

This research aims to improve students' activities and learning outcomes in civics subjects through the application of problem-solving methods. This research was carried out in class VII of SMP Negeri 9 Kendari in the even semester of the 2017-2018 academic year. The subjects studied were 34 students in class VII-3, with details of 14 male students and 20 female students. This research was carried out in two cycles. The data obtained was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of the research show that (1) the value of student activity using the problem solving method is that 9 students out of 34 students get a score between 19 and 24, if the percentage is 26.47% with very good information, 11 students out of 34 students get a score between 13 and 18, if the percentage is 32.35% with good information, and 14 students out of 34 students get a score between 7 and 12, if the percentage is 41.47% with less improvement in the second cycle, 25 students out of 34 get a score between 19 and 24, if percentage is 73.53% with very good information, 6 students out of 34 students got a score between 13 and 18, if the percentage was 17.65% with good information, and 3 students out of 34 students got a score between 7 and 12, if the percentage was 8.82 % with insufficient information; and (2) student learning outcomes increased from the pre-cycle results, namely from 34 students, only 10 students or 29.41% of students who had reached the KKM increased in the first cycle test results to 20 students, or 58.82% of students who had reached the KKM. and increased again in cycle II to 31 students or 91.18% of students who had reached the KKM
